The Eastern Tur is indigenous to the Eastern Caucasus and also known as the Dagestan Tur. It may be found in the mountains of this beautiful country at altitudes between 7,500 and 9,000ft. Its horn length is 32" to 36" on average. With its very thick horns, it has the nature of a cross between a sheep and a mountain goat. The international authorities state it belongs to both the sheep and goat family, making it one of the most important species for many sheep hunters.
