I have been lucky enough to work extensively for almost 20 years with Huntinspain and the Sanchez Fabres family and as a result of representing them in the UK, I can offer outstanding partridge shooting and lodging on their beautiful estate, at an exceptionally good price.

Days are available on one of Spain's best driven partridge shoots right through the season from the beginning of September until mid April. This provides the opportunity to experience partridge shooting in the warm weather of the autumn in Spain and to extend your season into spring. Whenever you choose to go, you will experience some of the highest quality partridge shooting available anywhere.

The shooting lodge, Las Ahijaderas, is located in the grounds of a family estate close to the historical city of Salamanca in the north west of Spain. In the fields surrounding the Lodge are the famous fighting bulls that the family has bred for over three hundred years. Guns can come alone to join other individual Guns or come as a party of friends and can bring guests who do not shoot. It is our aim to provide excellent shooting and a relaxed holiday whatever your requirements.

Those who come and join with other individuals and groups have made contacts and friends that last for years and come back regularly to shoot with the same people that they met at Las Ahijaderas. Alternatively, coming with a group of friends means that you have the ability to shoot well over a couple of days and enjoy their company at the Lodge at dinner and over drinks in a way that is more relaxed than meeting over a series of days spread out over the season.

And if you do not shoot but come as a guest, there are plenty of things to do at the Lodge and excursions that we can organise that will occupy your day before meeting up with the shooting party for tapas and dinner.

Getting There

Guests will be collected from Madrid airport/hotels (or, if arriving by private plane, from the local airport) and driven to the shoot lodge. We have a range of quality guns at the Lodge but equally will organise for your own guns to clear customs as efficiently as possible.

The lodge is situated twenty minutes from Salamanca, famous for its two Gothic cathedrals, Spain's oldest universities, shops and the stunning "Plaza Mayor", the city's central square where visitors can sit and enjoy a drink and tapas in one of the many bars and restaurants that spill out on to the pavement.

The Lodge

The Lodge is fully staffed at all times and airport transfers, all meals, drinks (open bar), shoot transport, customs clearance, hunting permits and use of the lodge and its facilities are included in the price.

There are 14 double en-suite rooms within the main house and a smaller self-contained 8 bedroom lodge. Guests can also enjoy the swimming pool, tennis court, wine cellar, private lake and horse riding. The Lodge is in an idyllic location with fields where fallow and red deer and mouflon freely roam. We also have facilities for clay and live pigeon shooting and target shooting. There are numerous historical villages within easy reach to which excursions can be arranged.

Your Day's Shooting

A typical day starts with a leisurely breakfast at which you will meet your "Secretario" who will spot approaching birds and record the position of the shot birds. Your "Cargador" will act as your loader. Both will be enthusiastic and professional companions for the day.

There are normally four or five drives during the day. The terrain is perfect for showing consistently challenging and varied birds to suit and test any team of Guns. Birds are driven over the evergreen oaks of the region growing on the sides of the hills and river valleys. At some points you will be standing on high ground with breathtaking views with no one around you, shooting birds almost out of shot. At other times you will be down by a stream in the valley surprised by a covey at treetop height followed by birds over your heads at the extreme of range.

With the drive ended by the appearance of gamekeepers beating on horseback, their horses exquisitely trained.

Guests will break late morning for tapas and drinks in the open air and then at the end of the drives a fully cooked lunch will be served either overlooking the stunning hills or, if the weather is cooler, in a nearby lodge with open fire. Although served in the field, attention to detail is perfect and guests will be served by waiters in "black and whites". Typical Spanish dishes such as suckling pig, lamb, chorizzitos and paellas are prepared on an open fire and served with excellent Spanish wine.

Dinner at the Lodge

Drinks and tapas are served in the evening outside if the weather is good or in front of a roaring fire on cooler days. Dinner is served at a time to suit the guests and then you can relax and discuss the days shooting over drinks in the bar with your fellow Guns and Guests, making new friends and renewing old acquaintances. When at the Lodge, you are welcomed by the family as if you were in a friend's home.

Stalking

We can arrange stalking expeditions with a guide while you are at the Lodge.

Also we can organise a full driven Monteria either combined with a partridge shooting trip or as a stand alone event.
